Stupid Contractions

Well I never made it to the doctor appointment. Tuesday night the exact same thing happened as the previous night. I woke up again with contractions every 5 minutes. So we were on our way back to the hospital. Eventually they stopped the contractions again (with the IV fluids and shots) and after talking with my doctor in the morning he decided to keep me at the hospital so we didn't have to make the trip to the hospital again in the middle of the night. So last night once again just like the previous two nights I woke up with contractions every 5 minutes. So they hooked up the contraction monitor to watch what was happening. I think I was more relaxed already being at the hospital and my body didn't have the extra stress of getting up, dressed and heading to the hospital. So when I noticed the contractions starting I drank a bunch of water which actually was able to slow down and stop the contractions. It was definitely a more relaxing night and I was able to get about 5 hours of sleep vs the previous nights where I had 1-3 hours of sleep.

We are taking it day by day and I'm definitely working on keeping these babies in as long as possible. My doctor believes that the contractions are from my uterus being so stretched out and not having any room left. The babies all look great on the monitor (so he doesn't think it's a sick baby causing problems) and my cervix hasn't changed at all. The only concern is if one of these nights I do start making more progress and need to deliver these babies, it's better that I'm in the hospital...but on the flip side he said that I could have a few nights without contractions and might get to go home.

On a fun note, I got to take a field trip and tour the NICU. It was neat to see all the little babies and understand a little better about what to expect for after they are born. The OR where they will be performing the c-section eventually is actually attached to the NICU so the babies won't have to go far to be checked out. So, now when the babies are being whisked away after delivery I'll know where they are going and what's happening.

Now if they only had a tv list that indicated which channel corresponds to which station.

Awww honey... you are doing so great! I am certain that I am one of a long list of people who are so proud of you and SOOOOOO EXCITED!! I have to admit that with all of your activities I wondered if you would follow orders to rest... that sounds awful, but I have a few friends with twins who delivered early because the moms "just couldn't sit still!" GASP!! So good to hear that you 5 (WOW!!) are getting such great care.

Hey it is Breanne, I just wanted to let you know why I think Eli was so fascinated with you. Besides the fact that he thinks you are so pretty, he is always around when I read your blog and asks me questions about you and the babies. We will be praying for you and for the babies to come out when they are ready. Hang in there. Oh are you going to be blogging after they are born? Your blog is part of my normal routine.

35 Weeks

A couple weeks ago while in the hospital I was just hoping to make it to 34 weeks, and here we are at 35 weeks...only 8 more days to go. I had a doctor appointment on Friday and the babies still looked great, so it's up to me to take it easy for one more week and drink a whole bunch of water to keep the contractions away. My belly is really starting to feel heavy when I stand up and while sitting, as it rests on my legs. In all I'm still not all too uncomfortable. Yesterday was my 29th birthday. I was thinking about how people always want to reflect back and say they are still 29...I'm sure my hugeness isn't what they are imagining. I've been upstairs for the most part lately, avoiding the steps. So instead of taking my pictures in my usual spot I had to find someplace upstairs. I'm in front of the babies room door. For fun I took pictures from every angle. Hopefully I'll get one more set of pictures next week.

Yarrrr

It was a nice day and we couldn't help but take our little buccaneers to the park and of course by the water. Yes, today was talk like a pirate day...yarrr. We've been working on getting them to hold our hand while walking in public. If they don't hold our hand they get carried. Their response was if, if you are going to hold my hand I'm going to sit. Two of them sat half way across the bridge so we had the third sit and hoped to get a picture of all three. The following pictures are what we ended up with. The Floor

For some reason it is just so much fun to throw food on the floor... The babies have gotten really bad over the last few days about throwing food on the floor. They will scoop up huge hand fulls of food and just chuck it. The other day I came up with a solution that seemed to work, I gave them spoons. I helped them put food on the spoon and get it into their mouths. Ethan was even picking up food and placing it on his spoon and tried to get it into his mouth. I just hope the novelty of the spoon doesn't wear off too soon, Missy (our dog) is getting a little chunky. Ethan Logan Leah
