Our Three Blessings

Over the weekend our friend was in town for her baby shower. She is 26 weeks, just 10 weeks ahead of me and we are the same size. I can't imagine how big I'll be at 26 weeks. Here's this week's belly picture.

On Friday I had another doctor appointment and ultrasound. The appointment was in the evening so my mom was able to go with me after work. All three babies are growing well and look great. I am now far enough along that my doctor was able to determine the genders of the babies!!! Since Eric wasn't with me at the appointment they put the photos (of their genders) in an envelope so that Eric and I could open it together. We are so excited with the results...but we are going to wait to divulge the details at the shower. I figured it would be a fun surprise for everyone...that is, if we can keep quiet and not slip before November 16th.

Most people have the opportunity to pick one name try it out for a while and make any adjustments needed when selecting a second...or third. We will have the fun task of deciding names for three babies at once. I'm very thankful to have helpful friends. One of my friends gave me some helpful naming suggestions mostly dealing with famous trios. Huey, Dewey, and Louie Anne, Emily, and Charlotte Peter, Paul, and Mary Larry, Moe, and Curly Athos, Porthos, and Aramis Larry, Darryl, and Darryl I figured I could add a few more to her list Jack, Chrissy, and Janet Alvin, Simon, and Theodore I think I like Larry, Moe, and Curly the best but we will probably hold out on picking names until we know their genders.

Here is this weeks belly picture. I actually managed to squeeze into the same shorts. I really prefer my stretchy pants. Psychologically it's easier to eat so much not knowing where all the weight is really going... up 15lbs so far, go me!

The second trimester has brought with it a much needed burst of energy. I'm starting to feel like myself again. I've actually been able to run to the store at lunch, not just sleep for an hour in my car. We had another appointment this morning and got to see all the babies again. They have gotten big enough that they no longer do the crown to rump measurement like they had been at each appointment. The ultrasound tech did to measurements with a little persuading...even though I was just there 10 days ago. This time they measured the head, belly, and femur (thigh bone). With the three measuements the machine calculates the baby's weight. All 3 babies measured 3oz, right on track! Here are the latest pictures:

The trend over the past couple weeks is for my belly gets bigger as they day progresses with all the water and food intake. Then when I wake up in the morning it's down again (allowing my pants to fit a little better). Well this morning it finally happened, the bump was still there when I woke up. I'm just glad we made it shopping over the weekend for the funny stretchy top maternity pants. I was laughing at them the whole time in the store but I wasn't laughing after wearing them for a day...I love them! Eric and I aren't the only ones having to make adjustments. Missy our 2 year old puppy is going to have some adjusting to do...but I think she'll be ok. I've been explaining to her that I'm having a litter of babies. I'm not sure she understands yet. Today was the first Sunday of this year's NFL season. We started off this year with our traditional heap of nachos and a lazy day in front of the tv. What could be better than a day of football and shopping for minivans online. Well, maybe shopping for a Shelby Mustang instead.

Since my last appointment two weeks ago the babies have doubled in size. They are now all right around 64mm which is roughly 2.5 inches long. I only gained half a pound in the last week, which is crazy to me because all I do is eat... Everyone received a clean bill of health and we go back again in a couple weeks. The ultrasound technician did a great job getting some nice pictures for us. It was fun to see how #1 is squished on the bottom under the other two and #2 was kicking back and stretching out.
