The Dismount

Getting onto the couch is our latest achievement. It's pretty standard... swing the right leg up, lean and grab the cushions, get the second leg up, and shimmy onto the couch. Getting down, "The Dismount", is where they get creative.

Ethan - does really well and going down feet first on his belly, when he doesn't have help (a.k.a. isn't pushed by the other 2). His most creative dismount was holding onto the cushion and some how stepped/jumped down and landed on his feet. I like the feet landing much better than the couple times he went down not so smoothly onto his head after running across the couch.

Leah - hasn't quite mastered the feet first dismount. Most of the time if I'm next to her she'll lift up her arms for me to help her. Her most common approach for getting down is slowly sliding down head first with her arms stretched out. Once her hands hit the floor she rolls/flops onto the floor. She doesn't have the most graceful technique, but hasn't taken the head dives like the boys.

Logan - also does really well getting down feet first. He has taken a few head dives and has had the worst accident of them all. We had the wood activity block next to the couch to block them from getting at the floor vent cover (they love to pull them up). He went off the side of the couch and scraped his back on the box. He's been more careful since then. We moved the box and separated that end of the couch to cover the vent and prevent them from going off the arm of the couch.

Taking a break to read at snack time.
Ethan is still interested in the cheerios in his lap.

Missy, Ethan, Logan, and Leah
Missy doesn't look pleased that her couch is being invaded.
