Coloring

I sprained my ankle playing soccer just over a week ago. Typically, we'll take a nice long walk during the day when everyone is fussy (including mommy) and we all just need a break. So I've had to find fun things to do inside. This week I left them in their seats after lunch and got out the crayons. They did well making marks on the paper, but I think they saw the crayons as dessert.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's day to an amazing Dad and husband. We love you!

My boys

I think it's the boys mission every day to find something new to make my heart stop and give me gray hair. If you can climb in, over, and around something they will. Ethan likes to crawl over the couch arms and slide down to the floor then Logan copies him. It's a good thing they are cute. If only

If only their vacuum would pick up the crumbs after breakfast (the ones that Missy missed)

Park

We finally made it to the park. We've been walking 2 to 3 miles a day lately with Missy. Today was warm so we dropped Missy off after the first mile and kept going. Our typical route goes past the park but we usually don't stop because of the dog. Today we finally went and checked out. There are only two swings. So I took them one at a time to the climbing structure to go down the slide while the other two were swinging. The boys enjoyed the slide but Leah wanted nothing to do with it. She much preferred the swing. Ethan on the slide Logan on the slide Logan Ethan Leah Leah and Ethan

Floor Vents

Image
We've now added one more thing to the list of things we never thought we'd have to do... We had to secure the floor vent covers to the floor. We only lost a few balls and some blocks...but when the sippy cup went down the kitchen vent I knew something needed to be done. For a few days we tried to cover the vents with furniture, toy boxes, rugs...anything. They started flipping over the toy box, getting to the vent and climbing on the box. I considered screwing the vents into the floor, but didn't want to put holes into the wood floor in the kitchen. So, I tried double sided mounting tape on the kitchen vent. It worked great. They weren't able to pull up the vent at all. Since the tape worked so well I tried it on the carpet. That worked too. I have a new appreciation for double sided mounting tape.

The Dismount

Image
Getting onto the couch is our latest achievement. It's pretty standard... swing the right leg up, lean and grab the cushions, get the second leg up, and shimmy onto the couch. Getting down, "The Dismount", is where they get creative. Ethan - does really well and going down feet first on his belly, when he doesn't have help (a.k.a. isn't pushed by the other 2). His most creative dismount was holding onto the cushion and some how stepped/jumped down and landed on his feet. I like the feet landing much better than the couple times he went down not so smoothly onto his head after running across the couch. Leah - hasn't quite mastered the feet first dismount. Most of the time if I'm next to her she'll lift up her arms for me to help her. Her most common approach for getting down is slowly sliding down head first with her arms stretched out. Once her hands hit the floor she rolls/flops onto the floor. She doesn't have the most graceful technique,...
